After I redid my TC engine, I had a tick I attributed to the work I had done in the cam chest. Chased it for a couple of months adjusting the pushrods to different lenths and finally replacing the lifters. Turned out to be an exhaust leak on the front pipe. Almost sounds like a rod knocking at idle but as soon as rpm are increased the noise goes away. An HD mechanic said this is normal but admits the sound on my bike is loud.No it isn't, at least not in the form as we know it starting with the 07 MY. Before that they used a 3 phase management system. 1st phase at 160c head temp it will reduce the idle until it cools down or reaches 800 rpm.
